Liberty Enlightening the World

What really makes this statue so unique for me are the seven spikes radiating from her head. These luminous symbols create a magical and a very powerful aura around her - imagine a hat or nothing covering her head. She would miss something very very essential if the spikes would not be there. It is like the smile of Mona Lisa - a secret power radiating within. US would be a very different country without this statue.

Twitter, Job Search and Personal Branding

More and more recruiters are using Twitter to post their jobs online. As a Job Seeker what do you need to do to use Twitter to find jobs? Read the articles below and you are all set. One word of warning: do not use Twitter to post your intentions of finding your next opportunity if you are still employed by someone else - lets all use common sense here :) Also remember that your future company may read your Tweets before you join the company.

In the end it’s about how you market yourself – you need to create a personal online brand to maximise your future potential.

CNN using Twitter, Skype Video and Facebook

Wow - the US media is clearly in the 21st Century. I just watched a CNN news broadcast where one person was interviewed over Skype. CNN also clearly promote their Twitter feeds and Facebook pages on the broadcasts. Is this the beginning of moving away from the one to many broadcast model into many to many broadcast model? What's amazing now that twitter messages can now be international news in a matter of seconds.

Also Oprah just signed to Twitter here too and Obama has had a Twitter account for a while. Twitter is clearly mainstream now.

Did You Know 2.0 - Great You Tube Video

This was shown in our weekly meeting earlier today. It is a great video also highlighting the fact how little we really know in the end and how our knowledge is expanding all the time. We do not know about the future, we will not know about the future but we can prepare for the future by keeping an open mind.

Liar's Poker

This is a great book. No wonder the markets crashed if traders training and worldviews was mainy based on cheating and abusing others as much as they can for their own benefit. Obviously capitalism is about making more money - but at what cost to the environment and the rest of the community? I like Richard Bransons Gaia Capitalism idea - which I guess is based on a bit more ethical worldviews. You can read more about Gaia Capitalism from "Screw It, Let's Do It: Lessons in Life" which is also a great book to read.

Air Mouse Installation (2004) - my attempt to re-create Minority Report UI

I made this project five years ago for a Russian mobile phone retailer. The project was an attempt to re-create the Minority Report "Air Mouse" interface. We got pretty close - it worked ok in laboratory conditions but once we were in the real location it worked only when it was not sunny. The video cameras got confused and the system had to be re-calibrated. It was fun and very interesting. The technology has since moved on and it is nowadays possible to create quite reliable "Air Mouse" installations - ideally indoors and not near windows since sunlight is still a big problem for the cameras which track the movement.

Have a look for this YouTube video - you can see my "Air Mouse" in action - remember it was 2004.
